Stevens Creek Nature Preserve covers 281 acres and protects the restored Stevens Creek, which is the historic range of the federally endangered Carolina Heelsplitter mussel. Over 3 miles of looped trails meander through the forest. Stop and observe nature in action down by the creek, watch birds in the native plant garden or enjoy a picnic at the firepit. The Nature Center is free to visit and features live, native animals, an exhibit hall, rentable classroom for birthdays and events, and a gift shop. Education staff offer public and private programs for individuals and groups year-round. The Nature Center is open Monday-Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm and the Preserve is open from 6:30am to sunset.
