SCNP: Half-Day Birdwatching Trip to Carolina Sandhills NWR

Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge has 45,000 + acres of land and features the beautiful rolling sandhills, wetlands, and open waters. The refuge is home to about 1000 plant species and 190 + bird species including Northern Bobwhites and the threatened Red-cockaded Woodpecker. After about an hour and 15-minute drive, we will explore the Martine Lake Recreation area and the Red-cockaded Woodpecker Viewing area.
Pre-registration required. Shuttle provided to and from Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge, leaving from Stevens Creek Nature Center (15700 Thompson Road, Mint Hill). Appropriate for all levels of bird/nature watchers. Must be able to travel on natural surface trails at a slow-moderate pace; distance covered will depend on group pace and include stops to view wildlife. Bring food and water as desired; none provided. BYO binoculars or borrow from the center.
