Autism Charlotte, a local not-for-profit, opened its new Academy for Students with Autism focussed on educational, social and personal skill development for kids and youth aged 3-21 on the spectrum. Programming includes: Extended Learning and Development Academy (after school and summer camp K-12), Paths Academy (modules to improve executive functioning in 10 areas for youth aged 16-23), Stage One Academy (prepping kids aged 3-6 for kindergarten), iCan Bike Camp, and more.

Autism Charlotte, a local not-for-profit agency providing services for kids and transitioning youth aged 3 to 23 since 2006, has opened the Academy for Students with Autism in Charlotte.  The Academy is not a traditional school, but a center for enrichment services designed to fill the gaps in educational and social supports available to students on the spectrum.  Programing includes:

Stage One Academy:  A preschool learning center for students aged 3 to 6. This educational based program utilizes North Carolina's Foundations for Early Learning and Development as well as evidence-based practices to prepare students with ASD for transition to kindergarten.

Extended Learning and Development (ELD) Academy:   Offers both afterschool and full day summer enrichment opportunities for students in grades kindergarten to 12th in a brand new facility designed with their needs in mind.  This educational based program is designed to include educational support, social enrichment, personal development and recreational opportunities in a warm, safe, supportive and structured fun environment, staffed by well-trained and experienced teachers and assistants.

The Summer Acadedmy offers an amazing summer camp experience for students entering 1st through 12th grade; with music and arts, outdoor activities, steam projects, educational time, field trips and more.  10 full weeks of learning, developing personal skills, having fun and building new relationships. Come learn, explore, grow and make new friends!

Paths Academy: A supportive environment where young people aged 15 to 23 with ASD and related social-communication disorders gain knowledge and insight to help them with successful transitions; enhance their social and communication skills; obtain educational and career support; improve life-skills; further develop their executive functioning skills; and build friendships and connections. Short modules in the areas of relationships, communication, organization, finances, careers/employment, transportation, safety, independent living, community involvement and school preparation are alternated with social group activities and outings.

iCan Bike Camp:  Summer camp hosted by Autism Charlotte in partnership with iCan Shine.  During this weeklong camp, students 8 years and older develop independence and confidence while learning to ride a traditional two-wheeled bicycle.

Additional Enrichment Opportunties:
*University & Community Outreach: Promotes autism awareness, acceptance, and inclusion through internships and volunteerism.
*Parents Time Out (PTO): Opportunity for parents to take a few hours to themselves while students with ASD and their siblings enjoy fun activities in a safe nurturing environment.
*Special Events: are offered throughout the year for Autism Charlotte families with support from our community partners.  Past events have included Egg Hunt with Charlotte Knights, Pop Warner Flag Football Experience, AC Fall Festival and Magic Morning with Santa at NASCAR Hall of Fame.

All registrations are accessible on our website at www.autismcharlotte.org.
Extended Learning and Development Academy offers afterschool enrichment and full day summer academy for kids in K-12. Paths Academy offers modules on Friday evenings and weekends to prepare youth aged 15-23 for what comes after high school.
