• The engineering design process: Asking questions, identifying problems, making plans, prototyping solutions, understanding data, iterating, drawing conclusions, sharing results, and working together
• Properties of materials, the capabilities of tools, and how and when to use them
• Fine motor skills and artmaking processes
Camp Activities Include:
• Using a wide variety of tools safely, intentionally, and creatively
• Building stable structures at different scales
|• Designing working inventions based on simple machines
• Learning how animals engineer solutions to challenges in the natural world
• Exploring process art using unconventional mixed media, fiber, and sculptural materials
Highlights:
• Finding simple machines at play in Discovery Place’s Cool Stuff exhibition
• Developing designs that fly through the Flutter Tubes and cascade down the Water Table
• Exploring architecture in the Project Build exhibition
• Learn about the tools of marine biologists and oceanographers in our travelling exhibition, OceanXPerienc
