Saturday Morning Tour at President James K. Polk Historic Site

Join us for a guided tour of the historic cabins on our grounds. We begin with an introduction to the site, share the history of the structures here, and explore the cabins to give visitors a better idea of what life would have been like in the "backcountry" at the turn of the 19th century. Visitors will learn about the contrasting experiences of both young and old, free and enslaved, rich and poor.

*Please Note* Guided tours of the historic structures cost $2 per adult; $1 for children ages 5-12, and seniors. Tour fees will be collected on-site. The Visitor Center and site grounds remain free to visit.
Tours leave from the Visitor Center lobby and typically last about 25 minutes. Each tour will be limited to ten visitors. Pre-registration is required.
Visitors are expected to follow the “Three W’s” as outlined by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services – WEAR a cloth mask over your nose and mouth, WAIT in line at least six feet away from others, and WASH your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, we ask that you postpone your visit.
