Students will learn the parts of the instrument, how to care for a string instrument, and how to hold the instrument and bow. This class will build a solid foundation for future string studies and include other fun music, movement, and listening games. Come discover the joy of beginning violin and cello as a community, with other starting musicians! The final class will be a mini-concert for our family and friends!
PREREQUISITES
None!
DESIGNED FOR CAREGIVER AND CHILD
This class series is designed for a caregiver to participate in the class alongside the child, in order to make learning the instrument a family effort with plenty of support for their young musician.
INSTRUMENTS
Because of the young age of our Discovering Strings learners, we begin classes by using a box or foam violin that students will be able to take home and keep! This allows them to learn all of the basic postures of playing and caring for an instrument before getting introduced to their real wooden instrument and also saves parents from any worry about breaking their instrument at home. Students will get the opportunity to play real instruments as part of this class after several sessions!
