Preserving family stories from communities of color has the power to not only bring us closer together, but change the course of history But how do we get started? This series of four family archiving workshops will give you the know-how on the best practices, strategies, and materials needed to keep your family archives for generations to come. Workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage with Asian Pacific American Community Archivist Ayshea Khan alongside other experienced archivists, oral historians, and community memory workers.
Currently, the workshops will be held online, via Zoom. Each workshop will feature a blend of demonstration, dialogue, and interactive exercises. All attendees are encouraged to bring examples from their own family archives, questions, and a readiness to participate in discussion! Sessions will utilize breakout rooms for smaller group discussions and hands-on practice.
See below for the full list of dates. Each session is roughly one hour and a half long. Sign up for one or for all! Must register individually for each session. One ticket per household.
