This week-long day-camp for ages 13 through 16 will teach new skills and involve these teens in railroading preservation at the museum.
Over the course of the week, each camper will build an N scale T-Trak module while being taught and mentored by expert modelers. Techniques will inlcude model railroad design, structures, scenery, weathering, and more.
Saturday, the completed modules will be connected into a full size display layout and the work will be showcased to friends, family, and the visiting public.
Building a realistic model railroad requires study of the real thing (1:1 scale).
Campers will:
Take a 25-minute ride in a locomotive cab
Explore the museum's railroading exhibits
Explore the museum’s hidden rolling stock storage yard
Get up close and personal with a variety of rail equipment
