Great Backyard Bird Count

Every bird counts! Quietly stroll through the gardens or find a spot to sit and watch, counting birds and recording what you observe, which helps scientists in their study of birds.

Every bird counts! It’s time for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), a joint project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.

Quietly stroll through the gardens or find a spot to sit and watch, counting birds and recording what you observe, which helps scientists in their study of birds. Volunteers from Wing Haven and the Mecklenburg Audubon Society will be on hand providing guided walks, sharing educational information, and enjoying the count alongside you or your group. Wing Haven is participating in the count on Friday, February 13 and Monday, February 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Register for the day you will join us below.

Recommended for everyone - children and adults, from bird novices to bird experts!

Coffee and water will be available. Please bring your reusable cup.
