These week-long camps allow students to become immersed in aviation curriculum and hands-on experiences. This year, CAM is partnering with organizations such as CMS and Queen City Robotics Alliance. CMS teachers are trained by CAM instructors to teach ACE camps that are hosted through a grant program with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT).

All camps are 5-day experiences (M-F) from 9am-4pm. Campers must bring their own lunches daily.

ACE Future Flyers – (rising 6, 7, 8th graders) and ACE Jr. Flyers (rising 3rd, 4th and 5th graders):Experience the vast world of aviation on the grounds of one of the busiest airports in the world. Learn how a plane flies through a lively mix of classroom instruction, museum exploration, and flight simulators.  Talk to an FAA licensed Drone Expert and military and commercial airline pilots. Participants will delight in visits from Snoopy the Police helicopter and fire trucks from the airport fire department unit as well as a personalized tour of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and American Airlines Maintenance Facility.  Grab a seat inside one of our three trainer cockpits: F4, Boeing 727, and Cessna 150.  Listen to live Air Traffic Controllers as they direct the busy plane traffic taking off and landing adjacent to the museum.  Future Flyers will take a look across the ramp to the Air National Guard as a major transition takes place….see if you can spot the latest in military cargo planes-the C17!
